Environmental right for citizens

Green Press embarked on an environmental awareness plus education campaign on country's new environment law. Prepared a briefing paper on how to embark on Public interest Litigation to make best use of the law. Green Press also re-activated campaign in lslamabad Industrial Area after Supreme Court's directive against the pollutant industries.

In May 1998 Pakistan detonated its nuclear devices. Green Press initiated an awareness campaign to educate the citizens about odd effects of nuclear radiation.

  • Green Press launched a media campaign for the enforcement of National Environmental Quality Standards lingering since July 1996 and for the establishment of promised Environmental Tribunals.
  • Campaigned for an increase in the share of social sector in the national budget and advocated for a national consensus to ensure continuity in health, education and environment related policies.
  • Green Press enlisted and publicized through media the five major failures of the government on environmental front.
  • Green Press was given affiliation with Asia Pacific Forum of
    Environmental Journalists (AFEJ) and the Commonwealth Environmental Journalists Association.
  • President Green Press, Zaffarullah Khan participated in the 6th World Congress of Environmental Journalists in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was elected the vice-chairperson of the
    Commonwealth Environmental Journalists Association.
