Campaign to ban import of hazardous technology

Upon receiving information from Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), about the import of environmentally hazardous Chlorine plant from Denmark, Green Press launched a media campaign.

The Green Press story was picked-up by the Senate of Pakistan and finally the said deal was canceled, as it was a blatant violation of the Basel Convention which put ban on transfer of hazardous technology.

  • Green Press joined electronic community by establishing its Email node at Sustainable Development Network (SDN). Green Press disseminates environment related information through it and runs a biweekly electronic "Green News Digest."
  • Green Press initiated a project of issues oriented democratic education, "Voice for Democracy". Arranged a seminar on, "Mass media and Democratic values", along with an essay writing competition on theme, "Who pays for democracy?"
  • Green Press also campaigned to lower the voter's age to 18-year as enshrined in the country's 1973 constitution.
