Minister greets Green Press on launch of its website
ISLAMABAD,
June 4: Federal Minister for Environment Omar Asghar Khan has greeted
Green Press on the launch of its website and environmental web radio.
In a message, the Minister said that he was pleased to know that Green
Press has taken this initiative which will promote the dissemination
of information among the masses.
Green Press, established since June 5, 1992, is an association of journalists
dedicated to environment and human rights issues. The Environment Minister
said that it is the policy of the present government that maximum number
of people have access to information.
He said the website and web radio will also result in new linkages with
outside world and benefit both Pakistan and other countries from each
other's experiences.
He hoped that the website will enhance the local technical knowledge
and knowhow in developing environmental technologies.
Pakistan, he said, has no dearth of indigenous knowledge in seed-production,
forest management, water conservation and harvesting. He said these
local experiences can also be put on a broader canvas of the website
so that people living in other countries also learn from them.
Omar Asghar hoped that the website will promote dialogue between government,
citizens and private sector on environmental issues.
